STEADY STATE THERMAL ANALYSIS OF PERFORATED HONEYCOMBPLATE FIN HEAT SINKS USING ANSYS

Heat sink or heat exchanger is a passive cooling device used in electronic components to prolong their longevity, performance and reliability. All utilize current for the operational purposes thus become prone sharp increase temperature. The generated above operating level becomes critical in-terms of failure component hence, appropriate thermal management demands come into act. Finned extended surface sinks are cool power devices components. comparative results plate-fin forms on heat-sink with inline arrangement analyzed this paper. Four fins: Rectangular, One-side tapered, Inverted T section I without honeycomb perforations designed SOLIDWORKS® analysed using ANSYS® software identify solution CPU terms temperature directional flux along x, y z directions. aluminium alloy 6063-T6 natural graphite selected as base plate fin materials respectively. main objective paper contribute improving area research by studying effect under convection steady state analysis at constant flow 20W 40W two different cases air inlet taken 37.85° C. A total 16 specimen were analysed. 8 compared rest perforations. It was evaluated from both that inverted sectional provided an improvement efficiency better removal among other profiles where density cost trade-offs one side perforated tapered outperformed fins.
